UNI ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems
CERTIFYING BODY
Bericah S.p.A. is certified under ISO 45001 by the accredited certifying body TÜV Rheinland.
With the UNI ISO 45001 standard, prevention policies are improved and the company has an internationally recognized tool to increasingly and effectively combat workplace accidents and occupational illnesses. The 2018 UNI ISO 45001 standard, “Occupational health and safety management systems – Requirements and guidance for use,” is the first international standard to define the minimum best practice requirements for the protection of workers worldwide.
It establishes a framework for improving safety, reducing workplace risks, and enhancing the health and well-being of workers, thereby enabling any organization that chooses to certify its management system under accreditation to improve its health and safety performance.
Created to ensure consistency among the various ISO management system standards, UNI ISO 45001 adopts their High Level Structure (HLS) and main innovations.
In the new risk-based approach, risk is defined as the effect of uncertainty and is therefore understood in a broad sense.
It may have either a positive or negative meaning, and it guides the company to focus on both risks and opportunities to improve system performance.
The design of the management system must take into account the context in which the organization operates in its broadest sense, including logistical, urban planning, social, cultural, political, legal, and regulatory aspects of the market sector, as well as many others. This analysis makes it possible to understand internal factors, but above all external ones, that may influence system performance.
Top management must demonstrate strong commitment so that it is adopted at every level of the chain of command.
The aspects of worker participation and consultation become central, starting with the Workers’ Safety Representatives (RLS), which are essential tools for identifying hidden hazards and implementing prevention policies.
Purchasing and contracting are comprehensively regulated, with a distinction made between suppliers of goods and suppliers of services, since accidents very often occur particularly within the category of contractors. ISO 45001 is an international standard that specifies the requirements for an occupational health and safety management system, aimed at improving safety and preserving the health of both employees and external personnel, with a view to preventing illness and reducing workplace accidents.
Implementation of improvements derived from performance analysis.
Monitor and measure processes and products to determine the effectiveness of performance and the activities implemented.
Monitor and measure processes and products to determine the effectiveness of performance and the activities put in place.
The Quality Management System (QMS) is in fact based on process management (each operation is considered as a process with inputs, controls, and desired outputs) and primarily aims at full customer satisfaction and at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of results, in order to increase companies’ chances of success in the market.
